….but it’s not too late!
I don’t know about you…but I was one of the children who grew up watching “Mr. Rogers Neighborhood”. I recently came across a video of Mr. Rogers giving testimony to save his program from becomkng a federal budget cut. His words — and his dimeanor— saved the program he originally started with a 30 dollar budget, and went in to become so much more profound than anything tangible. Mr. Rogers was able to make a profound positive impact in the lives of children and family values: which much like Mr. Rogers—have faded from the fabric of society into the past.
I’m no Mr. Rogers…but I AM Jonathan Hursh. Fittingly, Mr. Rogers message was that I should be no one else—than my wonderful self.
Over the course of my life, I have discovered my purpose is similar to Mr. Rogers. I yearn to impact the world by modeling an example of living which models and celebrates genuine humanity. I imagine a world where people embrace human emotion, relationship, intellect, and merit. I believe this can be achieved through a mature understanding of effective communication, a genuine understanding of “love”, and a real world model of such things. The impact on the world would be greater than ever before because what comes next could build upon a pre-existing and already tested foundation/ model that others, Iike Mr. Rogers and Martin Luther King Jr. —before us, for example—have already demonstrated.
I desire to teach, not only children, but also adults — to SHOW them…what truth is, what communication is, and what the conduct of a man and woman could & SHOULD look like— if only certain values are imparted.
Each of us truly ARE UNIQUE & SPECIAL. WE ARE WONDERFUL and must see ourselves as such— and no longer should we force ourselves to a different mold created by others with an agenda that is not built on love—but on sex, money, and power.
We have lost our way as a society in entertainment. The consequence the current state of “entertainment” has proven to be a wreckless and empty society that is starving for something real again.
So what am I going to do about it?
I guess I’m going to have to start like Mr. Rogers. On a 30 dollar-a-day budget—so to speak. And pray. And trust that God will bring the right people together—at the right time—to accomplish this.
I believe I am becoming strong enough now to endure the accusations against my sanity in the midst of such a pursuit…until the world has changed. Until a mark has been made on the current status of family values & the priorities of humanity.
Let me know what you think. Thank you for your support.
