In a statement put out by Jennifer Castro of the public affairs unit of the Anchorage Police Department, police have identified the suspect in saturday’s shooting as 40 year old James Dale Ritchie. Detectives stated they are hoping to develop more information about Ritchie and urge the public to call Crimestoppers at (907)786-8900 with any information.
Police say the suspects weapon was linked to five (5) other homicides in 2016.
Today in Anchorage, Alaska — One of our own police officers, was ambushed and shot multiple times–the officer has survived and is in recovery–the suspect killed.
The officer was shot in his patrol car while responding to a call regarding a theft.
Violence such as this continue to occur across the nation. It is our duty as American citizens to stand by our law enforcement and defend our country.
I, myself, as a veteran of this great county, made a lifetime commitment to support and defend this great nation. It is disheartening to see the men and women who give so much of themselves, lose their lives so unnecessarily.
A major talking point of newly elected President Elect Donald J. Trump was to secure the nations borders in order to increase the safety of America’s citizens. However, before we start thinking about building a wall– or securing the U.S. borders– the first and most immediate response to the threats of this nation need to be addressed immediately.
We must start by acknowledging the threats within our nation for what they are. Only then, will America effectively begin to defend this country from those who wish to do it harm.
On August 15, 2016, then President Hopeful, President Elect Donald J. Trump addressed fighting terrorism, “Anyone who cannot name our enemy, is not fit to lead this country.”
Currently, streets and cities across the United States are under violent waves of attack by those who claim to be “protestors” against the results of the 2016 election.
We must stop taking weeks or months to call the truth what it is and respond to it without delay. We MUST Stop sitting back as idle observers watching evil occur from our smart phones. We must increase the interior defense of this country.
The Constitution must be defended. We the people, in order to form a more perfect union, must restore domestic tranquility by practicing love and tolerance for all.
I urge every citizen in every community across the nation to “Stand Together” and unite as Americans.
Those full of hate wish to silence law abiding citizens of this country- so we must only grow louder and more unified.
In Acts , Peter of the bible addressed onlookers who recognized him from his previous time as a begger. His advice for prosperity? Not silver. Not Gold. Not protesting.
Peter advised, “Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.”
Perhaps it is time we take the advice of Peter?
I’d love to hear your thoughts,
